Angel Song: Ingrid Jensen Plays the Music of Kenny Wheeler

The late great Kenny Wheeler had the unique appeal of being both an exciting and incendiary trumpet player, as well as an introspective and genius composer. As ECM Records noted, “Kenny was a highly regarded figure on the London scene, living a sort of double life – as a post-bop trumpeter and flugelhorn player inspired by Clifford Brown and Art Farmer, and as a pioneering free player moving into unexplored territory.” DIVA alumnus and Juno Award nominee trumpeter Ingrid Jensen also possesses this poised balance of fire and reflection. The CCJO welcomes Ingrid to Cincinnati to perform many of Kenny Wheeler's most famous pieces, including new interpretations of his hauntingly beautiful music.
